Overview
The BASE 5.0-EB is a user-friendly, high capacity Portable Extra Battery, designed to add energy storage capacity to your system. Equipped to accept significant solar and hybrid renewable inputs, you can charge your devices and deliver clean and efficient power. Designed for large expandable capacity, the BASE 5.0-EB is built for off-grid living and home backup use. The easy link up system allows you to add up to 5 units for serious energy storage!
Battery information
The BASE 5.0-EB Portable Extra Battery incorporates an automotive grade, high-quality lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4), which can be cycled 3500 times before its original capacity is reduced to 80%. Having a capacity of 5048Wh, expandable up to a massive 80,640Wh by linking fifteen to the BASE 5.0, the system offers a significant energy reserve for extended periods of uninterrupted power. With safety in mind, the BASE 5.0-EB safeguards from overheating and low charge. These limit deep discharge to preserve the longevity of the battery.
Output
The BASE 5.0-EB has two link ports to add an Extra Battery and a BASE 5.0 host unit. This allows charge and discharge power sharing once the linked units have balanced.
Charging
The BASE 5.0-EB will only charge when linked to the BASE 5.0 host. AC Charging: approximately 3.5 hours from 0% to 100% when connected to a BASE 5.0 host unit, plugged into mains or maximum solar input. The host unit will feed charge to the BASE 5.0-EB via the link cable, whichever method of charge you use.

1. Which Portable Power Stations are compatible with Sherpa BASE 5.0-EB?
It is able to be linked to the BASE 5.0 or PRO 5.0 models.
2. How do I calculate the BASE 5.0-EB run time?
Runtime is calculated for you and is shown on the display screen at any time you have a device drawing power. General equation for run time = Total Capacity (5040Wh) x 0.85 (Depth of Discharge) / Load (Device rated power-Watts)
3. Can the BASE 5.0-EB be charged while discharging?
Yes, while linked to a host unit, it can be charged and discharged simultaneously by mains or DC power.
4. How should the BASE 5.0-EB be stored?
Please turn off the unit and store it in a dry, ventilated place at normal room temperature. Do not place
this unit near water sources or a wet/moist environment. For long-term storage, it is recommended to
discharge the battery to 30% every three months and recharge it to 60% to sustain the battery life.
5. Is there any other safety advice?
• This product is IP-rated 21 and is therefore NOT waterproof.
• Pay attention to ventilation and heat dissipation when in use.
• Ensure adequate space for the vent fans to dissipate internal heat when in use.
• Do not use the product in environments where volatile gas may be present.
• When cleaning the product, wipe it with a dry, soft, clean cloth.
6. Can this product be transported by plane?
No, it is classed as dangerous goods and must be shipped by sea and
land only.
7. Is the actual useable capacity of the product consistent with the capacity
stated in the user manual?
All batteries reserve some capacity to prevent them from permanent damage by deep discharge. The actual usable capacity of the BASE 5.0-EB is therefore lower than the capacity specified in the user manual by approximately 15% so you can use up to 85%.
8. What is the storage capacity of the BASE 5.0-EB?
The BASE 5.0-EB has a rated capacity of 5040Wh and a useable capacity of approximately 4,284Wh.
9. Does the BASE 5.0-EB support an Extra Battery scalability?
Yes, up to 15 extra battery modules can be linked to the BASE 5.0 to achieve up to 80,640Wh capacity.
10. Does BASE 5.0-EB have a built-in MPPT charge controller?
No, it utilises the built-in MPPT controller of its host so you need to connect it to the host to benefit from renewable charging.
11. How does the BASE 5.0-EB charge?
The BASE 5.0-EB takes energy from its host unit such as the BASE 5.0 once it is linked up. When both are activated, they balance out their charge levels.
